Alright, I never thought in a million and o ne years that I'd get on this thing and ask for help with writing but I am. I mean, I consider myself half/half when it comes to screen writing and film making, I mean, I've been writing longer than shooting films. I have this idea I want to do for a play first, and then later adapted into a script. The reason I'm doing a script is because my drama teacher, probably the coolest, best non-known actress in this entire nation, alright, wrote a grant and wants me to write her a play. I have about three ideas but the main one I'm focousing on, or want to do is...well, I'll just explain it.

The play is about this Hunter S. Thompson character called The Writer who is writing a book, the third one to be exact. And the play mostly takes place in his head. And the genre of his third book is an odd-ball, california dry humor fashion. And so as he writes, he accidentaly, well, the stories he has written before intervene with each other. And so now you have these random dinner scenes from past books and at the very end, you have a connection. I guess what I need help on is that connection. The first dinner moment consists of Winchester and Abigail breaking up. The second dinner is a crime, comic bookish genre about Cactus jack and Gloria who, the last time they spoke, was when jack killed gloria's mother, jack's wife. And so they have their conversation and so those stories intervene and...well im walking around in circles here. Someone just tell me to shoot myself. Nevermind, I know someone would actually say that.

i think it would help if you figured out and stated why you are telling this story and what you want the audience to learn from it in the end.

then everything is about supporting that.

ask yourself why you think this is going to be significant and the motive is for the audience to even see it, and like rfranco said, what you want people to learn or to think about by the end.

Well originally, well i guess it's still the case, I have the Writer half way through say he doesn't want a story anymore, he just wants a bunch of essential moments because life isn't a story, it's just a bunch of moments that once collected creates something...and that where all the intertwining and such comes in, you have four different stories yet all of them are connected to one another. I think I'm just going to have Abigail, the one who brakes up with Winchester, to intervene with Jack, and they fall in love. And then i was winchester and gloria to have a relationship. i think that's what I'm going to do. But yea, the theme to the entire play is that our lives aren't stories, just one million essential moment that eventully make a story...also, it could, possibly, be that new friendships define what's truly important in life.
