This is just stuff I have learned, and everyone is welcome to post their experiences/advice.

I have a curse where I get lots of good ideas, but never can get them to connect in a continuous storyline.

Advice: Write them down and save them.
I started writing a new scene, and then I remembered something I had written about 1 year ago, I pulled it up and reworked it and now I got a longer script then I have ever had before!

Eat a Peyote cactus and wash it down with a quart of whiskey and ride your spirit animal into the desert to find your muse then punch her in the face. Oh and the writing stuff down for later thing works good too.

My only advice is don't force yourself, if your not in the mode to write, or in a drug enduced trance, then wait for that spark. If you're truly a writer you'll have to start writing when that time comes.

good point.

You may go weeks without writing anything. Don't worry about it. You'll think of something eventually, and it will all hit you in a sudden flash.

You write yourlife. the secret to your passions, your wishes, is to write them down. explore them. fine out what you need, what you need to discover. You have problems. You need to write those down, those will then "curse" you become 100X worse. Great thing is you can then do a ol switch a roo and say "its not a curse, its a blessing" and make it into something of worth to yourself. Stories? Stories????? There's no such thing. There is only experience. There is only learning. There are only mistakes. Shwo us your real self, it may not be pretty but atleast you can get it away from you and hope that something pretty does come your way. Make a list of the perfect woman, she'll come to you. Make a list of your perfect film. itll come to you. You have to look aorund, its already happening, why arnt you pressing record? You cant give up. Write down what u heard on the bus today, those people are there for you. They want you to express their ideas and thoughts. they are locked in a downward spiral, if they could theyd be painting but you have to paint for them. Nothing is original and nothing has been done. Disregard everything, burn your movies, eat your books, masturbate outside on a tree. There is no excuse. You must get these out of you or they will grow to garguantuan sizez...sizez so big Peter Jackson will discontinue his work as a so called artist because there's no standing chance against you,the God. the one who reveals the truth of their nature. GET THE **** TO WORK OR THE DEVIL WILL FIND OTHER USE FOR YOUR HANDS.

how are those scabs?

Is that why the trees in Sacramento have herpes? I just looked at my christmas tree in a whole new light!

I loved the stream of concious rant Kyle, very good point that at the end of the day you write for yourself or you're just serving the will of others. But don't discount that writing is a craft and simply relying on personal experience will eventually leave you high and dry making vanity projects and wondering why no one cares. Stay personal but not from the point of view of say, an angst ridden teen, but instead as a human trying to make sense of the human condition, this way it's still personal but relevant to people looking for worth in your stories.

Got to go find an outfit for my christmas tree, we're going to see Apocalypto.

I go to a coffee shop and guzzle cups of java with a notebook in front of me until the words write themselves.
