Hey everyone. I am in need of a great sci-fi script. Here's the deal. The website http://www.dvxuser.com is having a sci-fi short film contest. My film is due in January, so, I need a good script for it. Obviously, if I like your script, I will give you full credit! I need to let you know a few things also, I can't do very many special effects, so I was thinking more of an X-files type sci-fi short. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks!

Yeah dude. That's why the website is called dvxuser.com. It's for people who use the DVX camera.

Can you shoot it on a GL2 and claim it was done on a DVX100? Can you shoot it on 16mm? Roll Eyes

People are absurd.

Why do you say people are absurd? DVXuser was created for people who own and use a DVX100.

Does this site have any direct affiliation with Panasonic? I would understand the contest then as a promotional device, but it seems strange for an independent website to mandate the use of a specific camera for entry into a competition. Perhaps it is to level the playing field, so to speak?

Looks like a quiet way for Sony to say a "screw you" to the other camera companies. But it probably is something to level the playing field for those who use something like the xl series. Like Harris here.

It's absurd because the type of camera you use has literally nothing to do with the content - maybe whether the image is recorded on film or tape can make a difference, but a CCD is a CCD. No one will care if your project was shot on a GL2, a VX2100, or a DVX100... and that kind of faux-exclusivity shows that they probably care more about "gear" than quality.

DVX/HVX users are, in general, vastly superior to other filmmakers with different cameras. Didn't you get the memo? Hey, I've got it right here:

Too funny. Why would anyone want to enter a festival just so they could compete against someone with the "same" camera? "My camera is better than yours. Is not... it's the same." lololol
