I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or advice on adapting the poetry and prose of Walt Whitman to the screen. I am also wondering if copyright laws apply to it since it was all published in 1892, does that make it public domain? Thanks.

I can answer one question for you....

Copyright laws went into effect in 1911, anything produced before then is public domain.
