So for my portfolio I have to come up with an idea for a short film (I don't actually have to make it or make a script). I am having major idea blocks, so my ideas are kinda crappy, haha.
1. A young boy has always dreamt of becoming a professional ballroom dancer. The only thing, however, that is holding him back? His two left feet, literally.
2. Jacob (7) is the son of a strict rabbi, who is not very fond of the Christian beliefs. One afternoon, Jacob stumbles into a BINGO game at a Catholic church, where every participant is a woman over 70. Jacob becomes friends with one eldery lady in particular, but he has to hide this harmless friendship from his father.
Any better ideas? :S

I'd do the second one, except have the kid be 19, and meet the 70 year old woman at a funeral and then they fall in love and then...oh wait a minute, that's "Harold and Maude" nevermind...
it doesn't amtter which one you use if it's just for some portfolio thing, just make whatever idea it is come out clearly, focused, and concise to what it would be if you did make it and wanted people to be interesting.

I don't believe the second one. Jew's in American can't be so scared of Christians that they aren't allowed to be friends with them. I mean, christians are sort of everywhere. And, any parent that overprotective shouldn't be letting a seven year old wander around.
The first is okay. It seems like it would be the sort of movie that would be best done short and without any words. Which, if you need to write more about the idea, could make doing so difficult.
