Hey everyone, I've been trying out the gelatin method of creating fake scabs and what not for a zombie project I'm doing, but can't get it quite right. So, instead of me wasting more money on more ingrediants, I just wanted to find out if anyone here has done it and has any tips as to how much of the ingrediants to use, how to create a mass amount of it for multiple actors, etc. This is the link I've been using for the recipe:http://www.matthawkins.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=30

I tried the boards there, but they are essentially worthless, so any help is greatly appreciated.

sorry, but ive never personally tried out gelatin effects, although I've been working on a SFX heavy idea lately. Anyways, if you cant find any help on the topic try the boards here: http://themonsterlab.com/
Most people are super helpful, and a lot of them are professionals in SFX makeup. Best of luck.

I've been trying this out as well, but I can never get it right.

I'm afraid that we're going to have to keep spending our money for practicing until we get it right.
What I've been doing lately is creating VERY small wounds, I figure as soon as I get those right, I can move onto the massacre wounds!

Have you tried doing burns yet? I'm having a super hard time acheiving that one!

For pretty good wounds that look something liek road rash I'm mixing red colored corn syrup, peanut butter and corn meal all mixed together, I then go over it with a black makeup crayon, I'll get a photo up when I find the test shot I did of it!

Thanks for the link to the site, and for the advice. I'm posting over there as we speak, and as far as burns go, no I haven't tried them yet, but maybe I will as an alternative to these scabs. My problem is I need to create a simple, but effective, makeup procedure for applying to tons of actors for swarms of zombies. Any future advice is appreciated, as well as any pics of your work or any more helpful links. Thanks!

Well if your looking to enomimize, corn syrup and food coloring is perfect! The stuff is cheaper then dirt. And you mix it all up by the gallons, and it looks really good if you get the right mix going!

EDIT: I can't find my test shot . . . I think I might have recorded over it! Eek
