Hey everyone, I'm new to the site so I'm just getting used to things.

I want to make an film but I'm of course on a low budget. It's a long film, not short. It's a drama as well and I was wondering what kind of camera I should use. I've heard that Canon XL1's are ideal... but those are up in the 3,000 range. Do you know of any that are really good but just a little bit cheaper? Thanks for your help. Big Grin

Hi, welcome.
you can get cannon gl-2s for 1500.
Sony also makes some decent cameras below $1000.

Hey, are you sure you want to buy a camera? If you are on a such a tight budget, you'll probably want to spend as much of your money in front of the camera as possible. Maybe you should look into recruiting someone who already has a camcorder. Or maybe there's public access to cameras at your cable access or local college. In terms of production value, your money will be spent better on something other than the latest and greatest camera (IMO).
