I dont really care to make money or make it in the "BIZ". I'm a storyteller and this is my medium. I could make a low budget film but I preffer to spend more money on it to attract more venues such as film festivals. Having your film in a film festival is a great feeling. That's the great payoff. Unfortunately money helps.

You may want to apply for some grants. There are a lot of wealthy foundations out there that donate tons of cash to the arts. Try Guggenheim or the George Soros Foundation. Good luck!

Just remember, money dosent impress film festivals. Unfortunantley, medium does. If your going to increase your budget, might as well increase your shooting format. Go up to 16mm, or 35mm. If your shooting DV, theres no reason to dump a ton of cash on a set. Sets are easy to achieve cheap, film maybe isnt. The money is better spent on film equipment, and or a experienced D. P.
