I'm starting pre-pro on my short film. I had questions regarding permission to use logos. Is it really necessary to get permission if it is an article of clothing, like a Nike shoe? Also how is the best way to get permission to use a sports logo from an MLB team?

If anyone has any experience doing that I'd greatly appreciate any advice you could give me.

i tihnk its pretty important to use logos, well it really depends on if your selling your project or what your doing with it but you most likely need permission for the brands and im llike 90% sure you need the MLB's permission

Festivals will ask you to promise you have releases for everything. Some may ask to see the releases.

THe movie Strangers With Candy was picked up at Sundance for $3m. Then they had to refund the money, when the studios asked for releases they didn't have. Which sucked.
