I have a copy of "The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide" chris gore its a great reference book.

in movie maker magazine they had a really good article on this topic. they actually tell you what is worth the entry fee etc. they also give reasons why you should go to out of state type / international film festivals. the cool part is they tell you what to do when you aren't watching the films. i found it very neat.
