The Sacramento Film and Music Festival Announces Call for Submissions

SACRAMENTO, CA – February 20, 2004

The Sacramento Film and Music Festival is now accepting film and video submissions for the year 2004. The festival, which has showcased over 140 films along with 22 live music performances, will take place the second weekend of August at the historic Crest Theatre in downtown Sacramento. Screenings will be both competition and non-competition, along with special screenings for locally produced material.

The deadline for all submissions is June 21st, 2004. For selection and programming consideration, the festival accepts ½” VHS (not BetaSP) videocassette transfers and DVD. If a submitted film originated as a 16mm or 35mm print and is selected, we will then require that optimal format for presentation. Please note that if your film originated or was post-produced on digital video, send only a VHS copy for selection purposes. Again, if selected, we will then require the optimal digital video format for presentation.

For submission purposes, festival programmers will consider films submitted before completion (i.e., rough cuts, Avid outputs, temporary sound mixes, etc.). However, programmers will not consider trailers or other promotional videos for selection purposes.

Submitted films will be selected in three categories:

(1) Features: Any film or video totaling at least 60 minutes in length.

(2) Shorts: Any film or video totaling fewer than 60 minutes in length.

(3) Sacramento Produced: Any film or video wholly or partially produced in the Sacramento area. Consideration for this category will be determined by the festival programmers based upon submission information. [Note: Sacramento Produced films are also eligible in the Feature and Short categories.]

There will be a discounted entry fee offered to films submitted early (must be postmarked by April 20th, 2004). This discounted rate includes $20 per entry for films under 60 minutes (shorts); $30 per entry for films 60 minutes and over (features). NOTE: Submissions received between February 21st - June 21st, 2004 will be $25 for shorts and $35 for features. The final deadline for all film submissions is June 21st, 2004.

If you would like to submit a film, visit www.sacfilm.com and download an entry form or contact nschemel@aol.com and request a copy of the form. If you would like to receive a form by mail please send a request for an entry form to the address below. If you have any questions, contact questions@sactofilmfest.com, or call (916) 600-7029.

Please mail all submissions, along with the enclosed check or money order made out to the Sacramento Film and Music Festival, and completed submission form, to:
