My Last film at NYU is close to being done and I am confused by the sheer amount of film festivals out there. Basically, I try to create a plan to which festivals I should submit. I plan to start with one of the big ones as a "world premier" festival (I need to get in first of courseWink and then find the best ones to follow up.

I was wondering if there are any books or homepages that could help me create such a timeline.

Any suggestions for which festival to pick as a start would be helpful too. I was thinking about the LA film Festival.

couple of infos regarding my film that could help

NYU senior film
shot on super 35mm---finishing on HD
Running time aprox. 14 minutes
Very visual film, little dialogue.
more info's about the story on www.nightfallsfilm.com

thanks a lot, I feel so lost...hundreds of festivals out thereSmile

best,

Kris

Wow, beautifully shot. I was most impressed with the bon fire shot in the trailer. As far as film fests, you should do fairly well considering it's 35 mastered to high def. A very democratic way to see the most popular film festivals is to google "film festival". You'll probably see sundance, toronto, SxSW, Cannes, Tribeca, LAFF, Telluride, etc. But you may also want to decide based on which ones you could attend in person and possibly do the networking thing at. And, of course, which ones you're willing to pay the entrance fee for.

With shorts, I'm not really sure it's that important to the festival for it to be the "world premiere". Most festivals will group your film with others into a feature-length show. But I could be wrong.
