Naked women and alcohol do a lot for people's projects and carrers...
Seriously though... flashy flyers work, but I'd go for some sort of added value -which doesn't mean your film needs it, but as a promotional idea it may help. How about an after-screening party? If the subject of your film allows for this, it could also be the theme of the party... And I would have the film play at the party (maybe with subtitles?), to generate additional talk about it, during, and after... And then you could give away some props if there are any, or generate some other activity around the actors... Don't forget who you are, but make it big! (without getting ridiculous).

p.s.: I should probably say that I have no fest experience either, but this is probably what I'd do.

Well... First off, you have to deal with the fact that something called "New York Film Festival" is happening in LA. I like the way you handled it, having "Los Angeles" be on top and bigger. I would have the address be bigger as well, and eliminate all the bits of information that are not relevant to your film: the other films, the e-mail address, etc. Where and when should be as clear as the film's name, looking at the flyer from a distance. You might want to consider moving the logo and title to the right, and the information to the left, or have the logo on top, title in the middle, and everything else below it. Color would help, even if the film is in B&W. I would also avoid the phrase "Don't forget' on the flyer for "Unforgettable Romance". Just say "Save your ticket for...etc." instead.
Best of luck,
E.

Yeah, it's good... It's got "Classic Romance" written all over it, but that's probably the point, and you've made it well.
However, taking out irrelevant information and having the date and address bigger are not minor changes. It might make all the difference, for instance, not having the other movie titles. For example: being that I'm not a festival regular, if given your flyer, I'd go check out "Headphones", which is a title that, to my personal taste, sounds more appealing. However, if that title wasn't there, I might go see yours, and check out the party afterwards.
