The Northwest Tolkien Society accepting submissions to the TolFilm FanFilm Exhibition. TolFilm is held annually at TolCon, a convention dedicated to Tolkien, his works, his worlds and his fans. TolCon is May 13-15th, 2005 in Seattle, Washington.

We will accept submissions of all kinds, as long as the films relate to the Tolkien universe. Any of Tolkien’s books, languages, landscapes, even his environmental views are fair game. If it's a music video, parody, comedy, documentary, animation, a humorous look at waiting in line for tickets to LOTR, we wants it, precious! Submissions are open now until April 29th, 2005. For submission guidelines or more information on TolCon, visit http://www.tolcon.org.

The TolFilm Fanfilm Exhibition will only screen fan made films that are of the highest quality. While we appreciate the efforts of all fans, we will be looking for films that contain a universal quality, especially auditory and visual quality. We encourage you to push the envelope and explore your creativity!

Content
All films must be rated no higher than PG-13 according to MPAA standards (www.filmratings.com). Accordingly, we will not accept submissions containing “Slash” or fanfic type ‘Pairings’. In addition, only official footage of actors may be used. No films using bootleg or unsanctioned, unofficial footage (i.e. from video taping at a conventions, on the street, etc…) containing actors from New Line Cinema’s Lord of the Rings trilogy will be accepted, unless footage is given express permission by the actors.

The title slate for each film must appear for a minimum of 6 seconds and must include the following information:
Filmmaker
Title of Film
Acknowledgements of source material (i.e. "Video footage courtesy New Line Cinemas and Wingnut Films: Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, 2001, music by Englebert Humperdink “Release Me") Please, please, please acknowledge all your sources! c
A single line dedication is allowed, but please no lengthy dedications, Director’s
Notes, or your recipe for Lembas.

Format:
Films submitted in the original film categories must be under 8 minutes in length. Music videos must be limited to 4 minutes.
Films must be DVD-quality
Films must be submitted in .avi or mpeg
If you are unable to convert, give us a heads up and we can discuss alternatives.

Please create your film with a 4:3 (or 16:9) aspect ratio, like a wide-screen film-- otherwise it’s going to be stretched and distorted upwards and Mr. Frodo is going to look like Mr. Potatohead and the one ring is going to look like a thick, gold-dipped onion ring. And that just wouldn’t be pretty.

Also, we reserve the right to edit your film for length if it exceeds the stated time limits.
Please do not email your submission(s). All submissions must be mailed on a CD to:
