Slam Dance or Sun Dance?

I have to go with Sun Dance. Their are only a handful of truly beneficial film festivals out there. Ones like Sun Dance, Toronto, and Cannes, have proven themselves superior for one reason. Almost every selected film gets distribution, and or a picture deal witha studio. When it comes down to it, thats whats important if you want to work in this "Business". Ill be the first to admit, for an "Indie" film fest, Sun Dance has become pretty damn comercial, but you still have a better shot getting into that fest, then you do being discovered by Hollywood in your back yard. Just my two cents.

What I really care about right now is getting critiqued on my work, and that is why Houston WorldFest is where I'll be sending my next film.(after here of course) Beleive it or not, they have more submisisions than Cannes or Sundance, making it the largest festival in the world. Other reasons it's better thank sundance for me is because this festival does'nt accept already signed feature films. It was built only for the independant filmmaker in mind. I'd highly suggest it.

You should try a more filmmaker friendly festival.

I'm with the Brooklyn Underground Film Fest...I'm also a studentfilms.com alumni by the way!

A good bet is:
Microcine fest
Vancouver Underground FF
John Hopkins film festival
Slamdance
and yes.. the Brooklyn Underground.

There great people, and very supportive to new filmmakers.

Best,
Josh K
