NEW FOR 2006:
THE SACRAMENTO FILM AND MUSIC FESTIVAL
INCREASES EXPOSURE OPPORTUNITIES
FOR STUDENT FILMMAKERS!

The seventh annual Sacramento Film and Music Festival (SF&MF) is increasing screen time specifically for student filmmakers with the addition of two new days of programming exclusively for student works. SF&MF has rapidly expanded, both in terms of submissions and programming time, and this year we are dedicating this special time to increase the chances for students to showcase their work.

SF&MF accepts submissions in all genres and most formats from around the world and is open to all forms of work from traditional narratives and documentaries to cutting edge animation and music videos (assuming music rights are secured). We also consider projects of any length and Festival entries in all categories are juried by an expert panel as well as by audiences.

In the past few years especially, SF&MF has become known for innovative programming in support of an otherwise traditional Festival, with such events as the “Sac Music Seen” lineup which has commissioned almost 60 music videos in the last two years, and our “10x10” experiment in which filmmakers are given 10 days to make a 10 minute movie for guaranteed screen time during the last evening of the Festival.

SF&MF screenings are all programmed onto the historic main screen of Sacramento’s fully restored Crest Theatre, one of the greatest festival venues in existence. We are also proud to have been able to keep costs down for both filmmakers and attendees with low submission fees and an all Festival pass that has remained below $50 for the 5 day event.

For more information, check out the following sites:

www.sacfilm.com – the main SF&MF site

www.sacfilm.com/entry.html - for entry details - regular deadline date is May 26th

www.thecrest.com – for the historic Crest Theatre

Contact information may be found on the website and you may also contact Dr. Tony Sheppard at tony@csus.edu if you have additional questions.

We look forward to seeing you and your films at the Sacramento Film and Music Festival, August 2nd-6th at the historic Crest Theatre in downtown Sacramento.

So it's almost deadline time - postmark entries by the 26th for the seventh annual Sacramento Film and Music Festival. The Festival is August 2-6th at the beautiful, fully restored Crest Theatre in downtown Sacramento. Seriously, this is the greatest screen to see your work on - huge with stunning sound. The Lucasfilms guy who was traveling with an advance print of Sith said he generally made sure it was running OK and would leave after 20 mins or so, but he felt compelled to stay because he said it sounded awesome and was exactly the kind of screen that movies ought to be seen on!

Anyway, you've got a few days left to get to the post office, so get rolling...
