SUBMISSION DEADLINE: July 18, 2008
The Milwaukee Spotlight Student Film Festival is accepting submissions for its 4th annual festival, to be held at Bucketworks (www.bucketworks.org) on Saturday, October 11, 2008. High school students from Wisconsin, the states, or the world may submit their original work in six categories: narrative short, documentary, animation, experimental, music video, and public service announcement. Maximum 15 minutes. The filmmaker who takes home the top award will have their film screened at the 2008 Milwaukee International Film Festival.
Interested students (and their teachers) can find more information at
www.milwaukeespotlightfilms.org. Full submission information and online registration coming soon!
The festival is planning another wonderful awards ceremony for the following day, October 12th. The ceremony, also to be held at Bucketworks, will include guest presenters from the local filmmaking community, screenings of the winners, refreshments, and of course, the red carpet. In the first three years, Milwaukee Spotlight has been able to award more than $10,000 in prizes and services.
Milwaukee Spotlight was founded in 2005 by Dominic Inouye and James Carlson, the Executive Director of Bucketworks, a “health and fitness club for the brain,” located in downtown Milwaukee. It is the first organization devoted solely to supporting young film visionaries in Wisconsin—and beyond. In the first three years, almost 100 individual filmmakers from Wisconsin and 7 other states have been screened.
