All I can say is wow. After Hustle n Flow and then this, Craig Brewer is one of my new favorites. He's got some of the best character development I've ever seen and brings such a raw, in your face, feeling to his subject matter.

I just saw Black Snake Moan over the weekend, and I wasn't expecting much because of the poor reviews, but I was totally blown away. A fantastic film.

Agreed. I love that scene where he's playing the song "Black Snake Moan" and the lights are flickering on and off.

Yeah, I saw this a few weeks ago with the producers and director there. I really like it for its totally creative ideas, but I was kind of disappointed by the lack of story or any real character development. It was a series of amazing scenes, with a lot of filler in between. The visual style disappointed me too. Craig Brewer said he doesn't storyboard, and figures out every shot on set with his DP right before shooting, which I think is awesome... if it works, and it didn't work that well for him.

Yeah, weird.

You wouldn't happen to be Roger Ebert, would you? I know he likes donuts, and his hip is made of titanium...hmmm

Yeah, I've got this really snazzy advance screening package, and then they thrown in a ton of film classes and stuff to sweeten the deal. It's pretty neat.
