Ok.

In the middle of the production of titanic- (u know that movies which goes for 4 hours just so show a boat sinking) -the studio boss of fox realised that titanic was running US$60 million over budget. He approached James Cameron about it and gave him a list of options to reduce costs. Not liking studio involvment Mr Cameron walked off set for 5 days costing fox US$200 000 per day.

Now thats hollywood for ya!!!

i'm not sure i understand the point of this post... i mean cameron made titanic like 6 years ago so this isn't exactly new news. personally i think cameron is a genious. T2 and The Abyss are some of the best movies of all time. his television show Dark Angel was interesting and entertaining, though short lived. anyway, thats my reply to such mindless banter...or was it my mindless reply to such banter? i dont remember.

Yeah, Cameron's a Genius. Titanic is the highest grossing($) oscar award winning movie. I guess he did the right thing. Too bad hes not part of T3.

I can't wait for T3...why? Because Cameron is not directing it. Call me ignorant and all that but Titanic was nothing special...Leo brought in the cash flow from 12-18 girl old girls who went to see it 5 times a piece...plus the marketing director was a "genius" not Cameron...not that it was a absolutely crappy movie, I mean hell...I couldn't pull that off. But rest easy because I'm sure he will be around for awhile...I just hope he stays away from movies like Titanic.

I read a little of his script chicken scratch one time...that was pretty cool, but sorry dear Canada, he should not be your night in shinny "t2" armor.

Besides filming, the only other thing I ever did good was filming.

like pearl harbor, i liked the cinimatic sequences (the boat sinking; the war scenes) though i think that both films went a little overboard (no pun inteneded) with trying to tie in the love stories. it just seemed a little thick.

I don't love or hate Cameron and the same goes for TITANIC. For me, it was 'ok'.

However, I really enjoyed the 3-D documentary Cameron did on Titanic. It was amazing and beautifully shot. I forgot the name though (old age!) - GHOST OF THE DEEP or something like that.

Forgive my forgetfullness.

I don't understand either why people didn't like Titanic...i thought it was great. The main point i keep hearing is that they didn't want the whole love story bit of it...well, your prayers have been answered...watch Ghosts of the Abyss...shows you the same thing, if not more and much more educational and in a different perspective.

The reason for not likeing the love story of Titanic may be because many people are narrow-minded action junkies and don't like any romance in film...which is fine, I don't prefer it, but it can be done right, and Titanic is an example.

Titanic: 5/5
Ghosts of the Abyss: 10/5

You may have hit the nail right on the head! I wouldn't call myself an action junkie, but I can't tell you why I wasn't bowled over by TITANIC. I didn't dislike it, but it isn't something I would watch every time I had an opportunity.

Maybe the length and my short attention span!

i dont think the reason i wasnt a huge fan of titanic was beacuse i dont like a love story in film because i do enjoy it. but for some reason titanic's love story just seemed extreamly over the top. i dont know.

I used to be a huge fan of the Titanic. Not the movie, but the actual ship. Then the movie came around and screwed it all up with this horrible love story.

I'm with Mind Rite. I don't like Titanic, and I don't believe James Cameron is a genius. But it's all about oppinion.

Who cares if you like Titanic or not. The fact is, Cameron made a movie that EVERYONE saw, some more than once, and made the studio a sh*tload of money. And even if you don't like the movie, you still can't help but be impressed by the sheer scale of the project he took on.

And it annoys me that when Cameron's name is mentioned, people jump at the chance to bring up Titanic and rip on him. Let's thank him for bringing us The Abyss, an amazing movie, and two of the best sequels of all time: T2 and motherf*cking ALIENS baby!!! Aliens is probably my favorite sci-fi movie ever.

Feel free to rip on him for "Ghosts of the Abyss" though. Cameron... documentary on going to the titanic with Bill Paxton in a submarine?... Let it go man.

But seriously, JC is an awesome director and deserves more respect than you people are giving him.

As I said before, I don't like or dislike James Cameron. I did like GHOST OF THE ABYSS (I like docs anyway) and ALIENS is one of my favorite sci-fi movies too!

While I enjoyed THE ABYSS and have seen it several times, it reminds of ALIENS underwater!

Dear god. Stop whining like girls over the titanic.
He made the best Arnold Schwarzenegger films. Out of the many crap films that star dear ole' arnold, Cameron's are the best.. T2 and true lies... with true lies 2 in the near future i think.

Just think. I bet any filmmaker on this site would be more than pleased with their career if they had done what cameron has done.

Aliens was by far the best of the series.

Here's a film idea...a bunch of Hippies walk around painting stuff, they stop, eat lunch, then find a magical...CAMEL - which they eat to stay alive.
