I watched this the other day and was wondering something. Does anyone know why Buffalo Bill was so damn crazy. What happened to him to make him a nut. I don't know if it gives any explanation in the book the movie was based on or not. Haven't read it.
I noticed in his house their were Nazi swastikas here and there. Does anybody know why those were in the movie?

Good film that.

Buffalo Bill probably had some childhood problem that left emotional scars on him that will last a lifetime. Maybe his dad was an alchoholic and used to beat him every night. Maybe he was sexually assaulted by his mother. Maybe he got dropped on his head as a baby. Maybe he just hasn't got laid in a long, long time.

Wasn't that character based on a serial killer? I'm not sure which one.

I know Lecter was based on Ed Gein.

actualy Buffalo Bill was based on Ed Gein. in silence of the lambs Buffalo Bill makes a woman suit out of womens skin. Ed Gein actualy did this execpt Ed Gein is not realy a serial killer he was only charged for two murders. he made the women suit out of dead womens corpses he dug out of the local cemetary.

He also hung dead bodies in his cellar...and cut 'em open and stuff. And kept his dead mom in her room. These accounts inspired The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, and Silcence of the Lambs.

Yes, you're right I mean Leather Face was a product of Ed's influence.

He is considered a serial killer because he didn't commit the murders together... I believe.
