Yeah, so I finally got around to seeing this and, man, this is easily Night's worst piece. I mean the Village at least was able to really piss a lot of people off and didn't have any glaringly bad mistakes or moments that felt completely out of place. It's a shame, this movie felt like it could've been really good if Night had developed it further outside of the story he had told his children. I felt he did a decent job, previously, bringing fairy tales into the real world, but this was ridiculous. Editing mistakes and subpar CGI and poor excuses for twists abound, this is easily his worst work. And can we please think of something besides a giant eagle to swoop in and save the day? Regardless of the eagle being an occult symbol for water, it's just cliched. This didn't feel like one of his movies but more like someone imitating his style. Here's hoping the dude has at least one more good movie in him to make up for this one. WHAT A TWEEST!

Was this his best movie? By far NO. Was it flawed... of course every movie is flawed in one way or another we just chose to ignore these flaws if we are big fans of the film.
I give Shyamalan credit for making the movies HE WANTS TO MAKE and not to give in to Hollywood and what they want. It amazes me when people talk badly about him for making these movies, yet they bash on people like Michael Bay who makes movies just to "Make Money" or makes what sells.
Overall I had some problems with the movie, I think the kid with the cereal boxes got taken a little bit too far, almost as if he was filling in time trying to make the movie longer so he had the kid mess up and then realize it and fix it. I think the critic was just a little bit too over the top ( even tho they nailed it on the head with his attitude )
What I did like... the idea of the story because it was something out of the norm, I also loved Paul Giamatti (sp) character and the bottled up emotion he had... call me a sucker but I love characters that are wounded like that because honestly each one of us is carrying some sort of bottled up pain on a daily basis.
I would say this is my LEAST favorit movie by him but not at all bad, just not GREAT like id hoped for it to be.

i loved this movie no doubt. i mean i was kinda bored but then it just got more and more magicl. Like an every day life sort of thing beco mes a fairy tale and the solving of the riddles. too. Have to love riddles too love this movie.
I'm not going to comment on how I felt about this film... I mean I figure, with some of my opinions about other films on this board, I've probably made enough enemies as it is (film is a personal thing). But ya...no comment on how I umm...how I felt about this ummm...yeah...film.
