For those who dont know Im somewhat of a student of behavioral science with an emphasis on the techniques used to profile and hunt down serial murders.
So Im cruising along when I see a trailer titled Mindhunters which happens to be the title of a book by John Douglas one of the formost profilers that has ever lived (along with Robert Ressler who coined the term "Serial Killer")
Well the movie is about profiling... sort of.
Think "SWAT" (literaly; L.L. is in it) meets "The Recruit" with some "Identity tossed in for un-originality and all the slickness of a Michael Bay vehicle. WTF!?!?!!
Is nothing sacred? We have to have ultra hip model types who split their time evenly between "the case" and drinking socially because it makes them feel cool portray the men and woman who are the last line of deffense against the deipraved and twisted among us? Gimme a break. Dont forget to toss in the most cliched of killers for good measure.
I have three feature film concepts dealing with serial killers and I wouldnt catagories a single one as a Horror. I dotn get Hollywood and their talent for scrwing up the core of these beings. The reality of serial murderers is so much more terrifying then all the myth Hollywood tosses out there. I feel dirty now... im gonna go watch Silence of the Lambs. R. Michael

Why do people want serial killer fantasies rather than reality? The same reason people would rather watch a Michael Bay flick than a Rossellini or Godard film. Reality is an unpopular idea in our age. Personally, I agree with you Tizzy, I think if filmmakers actually attempted to get inside the mind of a serial killer, it would be much more frightening than the slasher trite that currently exists. I hope you make your films; I would be intrigued to see them.

I stopped watching those kind of movies awhile back. I started watching documentaries on that kind of thing instead on channels like discovery. It was so much more frightening to know everything was true!

Yah, as a general rule anything with LL Cool J in it will be somewhere between "ok" and "crap." His movies don't even make up their minds on if they're good or not. They're just there.
Jeff Goldblum would be a good "Mindhunter."
