Hey whats up everyone. I'm fairly new to this site (this is like my 4th post..) so I dont really know much about how old anyone is or what kind of old stuff you all might be into, or even whether or not you've already talked about this movie in the past.. Anyway, I'm 21 and my list of classics/soon-to-be classics leaves much to be desired. So with it being Holloween I decided to rent, as it claims itself to be "possibly the best horror film ever made," Rosemary's Baby. To be honest, I've been waiting for an opportunity to see this movie ever since a while back when I became a little interested in Roman Polanski. I wanted to know what this guy's deal was. I never saw any of his movies - didn't see the Pianist though he won the illest of the oscars for it - so that means he still must be a pretty pimpin director..
This movie is the sh*t. Its 136 min long and not for a single second does it loosen its grip allowing you to even attempt to analyze what Polanski is doing. The movie just happens and you can't even imagine yourself doing anything but watching. I guess that is what great directing is. Maybe this isn't news to anyone, but I thought this movie was incredible.

If you liked "Rosemarys Baby" yoyu have to see both "The Pianist" (simply the most in your face and real look at the Holocaust to come in some time. It is simply relentless) and "Chinatown" with Jack Nicholson. What a warped flick. Watch for Polanski as "the nose cutter". R. Michael

if youre interested in polanski, check out his first feature Knife in the Water. nothing amazing but pretty good, plus the dvd contains all of his shorts done at a film school which is incredibly intersting to watch, esp how his shorts went from bleh to really good.
if youre looking for a witty signature, youre looking in the wrong place.

I don't agree that this movie was so tight I couldn't do anything but watch; but, it was still pretty chilling. I liked the ending but almost wish it had gone a different route, although it was based off the book of the same name, so that's not any of the filmmaker's fault. Palanski did a fine job with the film, I'm sure he followed the book just fine, but I still think he went on a bit long. We get the point, is she crazy or is this happening and the pay off was good but not 136 minutes good. This one really could've done with some editing.
