time doesn't necessarily have to do with time travel. plus there's probably a thousand essays on that kind of stuff already.
there's movies that deal with time as it moves forward, just over large chunks like:
Days of Heaven - not only does the movie happen through out a farming season, but it was actually filmed in time with the farming season. when the scene took place in fall, they would wait until fall to film it
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring - this movie came out last year, its' about a monk that lives on a lake, and how his life goes through changes. the major changes are marked by the seasons, but he ages throughout the film, so it's no necessarily sequential.
La Jetee/12 Monkeys - 12 monkeys is based on la jetee. it's good because the "time travelling" that happens in the movies is a character going through his memory, although things happen that the character doesnt' necessarily remember. the entire thing is whether the character really is time traveling, or whether he is insane and just thinks he is. it also questions our concept of time as a "constant", and how dependent it is on memory, something that can be so fallible.
