I watched a trailer for this movie, and despite it's star (Colin Ferrel), I think the movie is going to be absolutely amazing. I even think Ferrel is going to be great in it. It's directed by Terrence Malick (Thin Red Line). From the trailer, the movie looks gorgeous. And from what I hear, he is making EVERYTHING as accurate as humanly possible.

I read something from a guy who was on set, and he said that the mud huts were actually made from mud, that the cannons were made from scratch and fully functional, the canoes were made from single pieces of wood. EVERYTHING is so meticulous and real. There wasn't even a road to get to the set.

The story is supposed to be as close to the truth as possible. They even cast a 14 year old for the role of pocahantas, which is accurate.

Malick is an amazing director, and I think that this movie will be awesome. I don't think it will go the path of alexander or troy, just because I know Malick is not a Hollywood director (despite his use of very famous hollywood actors in his movies).

I CANNOT WAIT.

yeah, I saw that about a month ago and I literally cannot wait for it to come out. Actually, it's the only movie I'm looking forward to seeing. Malick is great, Ferrel sucks - but maybe he'll deliver well in this.

Looks freakin' awesome!

So, its totally based on actual events? Or is it sort of just loosely based on events, with religious attention to detail?

Ah... I've been thinking we need more super accurate, but actually enjoyable, historic period films Smile

From the minute I saw the shots of them in canoes and the water I could instantly see this was going to be more then all those other history films, it just comes off as something great. Hopefully it will.

Yeah, that's what I felt too. I think it's going to be on a different level than those other movies. Just like Thin Red Line was on a different level from other war movies.
