hmmm I don't know, I've been highly skeptical of the whole thing. I actually laughed the first time I saw the trailer. I'll probably go see it just because I used to play with their toys.

Absolutely sarcastic. To the point that everything I've seen about the movie so far has scared the crap out of me. I would've been less skeptical of the whole ordeal if Spielberg's lazy ass had actually directed it instead of executive produced the damn thing. Michael Bay will get my money for that one weekend's gross. But if he screws up, which being Michael Bay; how can he not, well then, it's cause for something more drastic. elliott (otiose)...

See, that deviantart page is a great example of what has me worried about this film. See that dude's first rendition of Megatron which looks like a traditional gen one Transformer? See how much better it looks than the render made from the movie's artwork? I mean, come on. Not only were the gen one designs iconic, they're what built a fanbase large enough to justify a multi-million dollar rendition of an 80's Saturday morning cartoon. These new designs look like a failed toy series from the mid-nineties; I know because I even had a toy from that failed toy series. I just wish I could remember it's damn name, I think it might actually have a lot more people call "bull****" on this entire movie. Damnit. **** Michael Bay, and **** the numbnuts producer who allowed those ****ing hacks who wrote that last piece of **** Zorro suckfest to even utter the word "transformer." elliott (otiose)...

Wow, so it wasn't just digg, everyone's gotta complain about that. That's fine, thirty minutes later Yahoo put up their trailer. You would guess they'd be Mac friendly. elliott (otiose)...

quote: Originally posted by Daniel McLellan: You see if you don't let rabid fanboyism attach to you, you can enjoy things a lot more. This movie is going to be pretty awesome. Any complaints I've heard have been "they don't look right." Well the cartoon looked like crap. So nostalgia aside WHY would they try to replicate horrible 80's animation and designs which were limited by the fact that they were based off of TOYS for God's sake.
You know, I guess I wish this came out like thirteen years ago when I would've just been happy they were making a live action Transformers. You know, like back when I was kind of able to overlook how horribly wrong the Super Mario Bros. movie was just because they were making it. But I'm older now, much wiser, more cynical, and delusional in thinking I would've had the privelage to make the movie the right way. Now, despite how objective of a statement "the cartoon looked like crap" is, it's that "crappy" design that kept mine and countless other's interest in Transformers enough to keep the marketing and so forth going for so many years after the show. Why have such a drastic change and alienate those fans? At that point you might as well make a Go-Bots movie. Basically I don't think such "crap" designs would've lasted so long. I certainly don't and think, and moreso hope, that these don't. For ****'s sake, I wanted a badass movie to add to my collection to watch for years to come. Not some should've-been-an abortion made for a quick buck. I know this doesn't sound so very different than any fanboy's rant about any adaption that they hold sacred getting raped, but with a screen name like mine I feel justified. elliott (otiose)...
