Chris Cunningham (Music video director, featured in one of those "director series" dvd's) has produced a short film/music video about an elephant man looking guy in wheel chair rocking out to an Aphex Twins song. (Almost all of Cunningham’s videos feature extreme makeup FX of disproportioned people and surreal “Beings”, and this one is no different, so the majority of people are probably going to not like this. But, like most of his stuff, it's something I've never seen before. The thing plays almost like a horror film, except the monster break dances..kind of; it’s impossible to explain. I especially loved the close-ups when he smashes his face on the lens. The editing is pretty good as well. It's experimental, so there is no story, and there is a 30 secondish introduction before the thing starts, so if you hate that, then you mine as well just give up on it. Thought it might interest some of you though. You can check out Rubber Johnny here, but it's a swf (slash) file, so you can't seek through it. Be careful, it might drive you insane.
IF your interested you can see a QT trailer of Cunninghams stuff HERE
i'm not knowledeable in either any new music after 1990 or any music video directors...so particleman, I appreciate you posting this because that traielr video tripped me out, I think I may have seen one of those videos once and remember liking it. Surreal bizzare **** like this gets me off haha and I see surrealism being a huge part of future cinema. It already happened back with Bunel and Dali, but really, we didnt get enough out of it. There's so much potential and I see the only REAL good thing about computer effects is being able to pull off strange **** like this Chris Cunningham and ccrew can.
I'll deff try and check out that dvd.
and in the spirit of all things weird, a self portrait of myself;

Yea, CC did a commercial for Sony where this scottish chicks eyes were pushed out to the sides of her head. I though it was a real person the first time I saw it (turned out to be a Digital Effect ) It's great to see CG being integrate "seemlessly" to further a story or concept instead of just trying to wow the audience with exploding cars or giant over the top monsters. You can see the commercial HERE! You ever see that really old Dali film where they slice the eye ? That was probobly the craziest thing I've ever seen film wise. He made some cartoon with disney called Destino! that was finally finished recently, but I haven't been able to find any clips or anything yet...
