I got two free tickets for buying the Unrated dvd of the first one, so I'll be checking it out probably this weekend. Looks good. Though I must admit, they rushed this movie to make Halloween. So it could be lacking because of that. But we'll see.

All modern American "horror" flicks suck. The last truly horrifying American film that I saw was "The Fly" - which is from 1986. Horrifying because it embraces mortality and humanity rather than reducing characters to cardboard proxies.

saw was made by 2 Australians and an American crew... does that still make it an 'American Horror film'?

Was Saw 2 done by the same guys as the original?

I thought the first was mildly good. A mid-range thriller. Great idea, could have been done much better. II could go either way... it might suck completely, or it might be around the same.

I enjoyed the first one but I doubt the second will be any good.

American money = American film.

I have an inherent problem with movies that lean on a gimmick. Does anyone see "Saw II" for character development?

Augh, dude, just got back from seeing that. I've gotta say, I'm a horror flick freak, but I'm not into the torture movies. But I'll say this...if nothing else, those guys can sure as **** write a twist. I mean damn.

Watch Cannibal Holocaust - just released on a fantastic 2-disc special edition - and get back to me.

The twist was essentiallly the same as the first one. I personally thought it was dumb. I remember thinking the first one had a good idea and was intensely over-acted. In the second one we didn't care about the characters at all. The only character we actually got a lot of backstory and motivation on was the killer. But as a whole I thought the movie was dumb because the only thing the movie had going for it was that it was hard to watch at points. Think about that, making a MOVIE...that's hard to watch. That's dumb. It would have been allright if there was another reason to watch it but there wasn't. Kill Bill was hard to watch in spots but Tarantino shot it beautifully, and we really cared for the bride. So would I recomend it? If all you need is gore then definitely go see it. The came up with some of the grossest **** I've ever seen in movies. But if you look for other things then wait for Jarhead to come out this Friday.

Audition is worse. But Jarhead looks pretty good. From what I've seen on the trailors alone, their DP is a genius. Gotta see that.

***Spoilers***

Why did everyone think this was so hard to watch? I mean besides from the end where he like shaves his skin off I really didn't think it was that violent. Something like Salo or Cannibal Holocaust (like Evan said) there's something that will make you look away.
