Well, this movie opens today and although I probably won't be able to see it for another week I still would your non-spoiler opinions about this movie. Is it really Oscar worthy? Can Jamie Foxx actually act worth a damn? Can Tom Cruise?
But really what I want to discuss, and I'm surprised it hasn't been talked about already, is the digital look of the movie. I say digital look because I figure if it were actually digital it would've been discussed and debated over numerous times.
At the very least, I hope it's a good movie.

It's mixed format, but is mostly HD. American Cinematographer quoted initial DP Paul Cameron (Who was later replaced by Dion Beebe ACS) as saying that "[Michael Mann] ...wanted to use the format to create a kind of glowing urban environment; the goal was to make the L.A. night as much of a character in the story as Vincent and Max were." He also said, "It became pretty apparent early on that the only way to get the look Michael wanted was to shoot HD and push the gain on the cameras."

I think it looks like a pretty interesting aesthetic.

i cant wait to see this movie, anything by michael mann is worth watching. he is the only director who can use that fast mtv style editing that so many of todays directors use (like michael bay) without being redundant and pointless.

This was such an awesome movie, it felt so real. The incredible acting and the fact that it was shot on HD gave the film a real true-to-life feeling. Tom Cruise kicks super powerful arse as the bad guy. Could be my vote for best movie of the summer. Haven't seen Open Water yet though...

just saw it and it kicked major ass. awesome visuals and acting. it got really tense in the end, just an awesome movie, which i expected it would be since it was directed by the most awesome michael mann.
