I know it is sad, but I haven't seen any of those films yet. They only play in select theaters around here so...yeah. My favorite movie this year or maybe it's a film from last year, but "Orange County" was a great flick. I felt it had all the elements to make it an dope comedy/coming of age film.

What Orange County? That was one of the most horrible Jack Black flicks ever. That movie was way to predictable and typical. I laughed maybe once, and I am a huge comedy fan. From what I hear it didn't do to great on reviews/revenue either. So I can't be the only one when I say that movie was lame.

I would say Lord of the Rings was the best film of 2002. These great films just keep getting better. I cant wait for the third.

I liked the movie a lot. I liked it because it was written very well. I'm a writer, along with other things but the script for that movie was great. Predicable? Hmmm not too sure about that, could name many movie this year that were predictable, but not "Orange County". The "fire scene" was classic and the underlining theme was great as well. Of course this is only my opinion, what is your favorite movie of the year?

This is a hard choice. I mean.... There were a lot of good movies this year! 25th Hour is at the top of my list (amazing movie) for now. I haven't seen adaptation and that is supposed to be really good too. Gangs of New York was well done too, Catch me if you can was awesome and so was LOTR. It def was a great year for movies. BTW.... Did anyone else leave the theater feeling a little disappointed with Gangs of NY. No, no. It wasn't bad but I felt as if I had expected more out of it. Anyone agree?

No, it wasn't just you. I'm glad I saw GANGS, but I thought it drug a bit in the middle. The set (that was built in Italy) blew me away and I really liked Daniel-Day Lewis, but it isn't a movie that I would see again and again.

I (sadly) haven't seen any of the movies on the list either . . . at least yet! I really enjoyed CATCH ME and want to see CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND and 25TH HOUR. From everything I've read, THE HOURS is an extremely well-made movie.

I felt like ROAD TO PERDITION was the best movie I've seen this year - so far. I liked Tom Hanks role as a 'bad guy' and didn't find any parts of the movie that drug - but then again, I really like that subject matter - gangsters of the 30s/40s. Tyler Hoechlin (sp?) who played Hanks son in the movie also did a great job. Of course, Newman was near perfect.

I remember an interview with Sam Mendes, where between takes, he walks up to Hanks (who is also waiting) and asks him if anything is wrong? Hanks replies, "Are you kidding? I'm standing on the backlot at [studio], holding a machine gun, working on the same set as Paul Newman. What could be better than this?"

I just saw Catch Me If You Can last night on the big screen. It was brilliant. Then again what do you expect when the greatest actor of our time (Hanks) gets together with the greatest director of our time (Spielberg). Ill be buying that one on DVD. Up until now I'd always thought Leonardo DiCaprio wasnt that good of an actor, but looks like I was wrong. I vote for this film with Lord Of The Rings.

id have to say i loved sum of all fears. whoever wrote it must have been a genius. I also liked the movie "o" i thought it was just gonna be some dumb teen movie but it as such a great plot and it reminds me a lot of the great "Arlington Road" which came out a while a go

BPPFLMR RYDE o DY: you say orange county was horrible, and then go on to say undercover brother was a good comedy? wtf????

I would say for the year my fav was easily Minority Report, followed by, ironicly Catch me if you can (specially for leo's acting)

I would never say LOTR: TTT was a best...too much of it was a letdown.

orange county?!?! I enjoyed it..but it only will survive in my book as a poster on my wall...and because Jack Black is in it.

I enjoyed About Schmidt, and The Pianist, which were 2 excellent movies.

The Pianist was well done especially. It dealt with that aspect of WWII that isn't mentioned much. What if you can get past the gestapo, and your friends can help you? How do you survive alone, while you know your entire family is being tortured in a camp? The story was excellent, as was the cinematography, as was the acting. I particularly enjoyed the scene where there are literally thousands of extras, and all of them are focused on acting...everything authentic from the acting to the star of david bands on their arms...and as the main character walked around...the interaction was remarkable. Indeed this was a superb movie of 2002!

Being an Australian resident we usually have to wait about a year for things like 'Gangs of New York' to arrive here, but for my money I thought that Mendes did it again with. A year of fairly good movies (and it was nice to see the studios take some gambles), but 'Road' simply felt the most rounded, competent effort. But was it even made this year?

Road to Perdition is a great film...i would say definetly a nominee. I don't care too much about who wins, as long as its not the two towers, which i thought was a very disappointing movie.

Alas, my pick for best movie of the year isn't on the list, either, and I hope to god that it doesn't end up getting snubbed for an academy award since it came out somewhat early.

...But then again, I doubt the academy would overlook something as great as The Crocodile Hunter movie.

(wah wah wah...)
