I finally got the DVD--amazingly my local Amiba music had it. This movie is great. For anyone that like stylized violence and tough ladies in school girl outfits (paging Mr. Reedy), this is a must see.

I'm excited for BR2, which I think just premiered in the UK. A DVD should hopefully follow soon.

You live near Amoeba? I walk there at times if I'm not in a hurry.

I'm three short blocks (One large one) west of the Chinese. Drop me a line when you get settled in.

This is the first i've heard of BR2 premiering over here ... will report back as soon as i've heard any info.

EDIT: Their web site suggests a UK premiere around April 2004.

Thanks Rob, I will.

Yeah, my bad Richard. IMDB lists BR2 for the UK as November 2003--at the London Film Fest. I also heard they're doing an Austrailan release shortly.

This movie is awesome. I have the director's cut DVD, but I'm confused as to whether it is MORE or LESS violent than the original. If anyone has seen both, please explain.

I've seen both. It's not more violent, but it does give a little more backstory (as I recall). The thing I didn't like about the 2-disc directors cut (from Korea) is the english subtitles are incomplete. If you watch the UK NTSC region 0 DVD version, the subtitles reveal the whole line where as the korean version often just has ... at the end of an illegible sentence. Plus the subtitles track itself is more legible on the UK version.
