All right, the movie wasn't AWESOME, but it does have some credibility. My biggest bone to pick is the writing. Some of the dialogue just came across way forced, and a couple scenes seemed completely unnessesary (so I guess that's half the editors fault). But if your ready for an action packed, good moral, drama, with just enough comedy movie. go see Spidey 2.
There were some excellent shots in there. Oh man, some of them gave me goosebumps.

C'mon Kane! This movie isn't as cheesy as the first, and focuses more on the story then CG scenes. Give Spidey a Chance! (Oh wait, your in Canada, you have to wait another year )

The first one actually focused on CG? I thought they just did it all half assed. It really suct to see a couple good actor get stuck in such crap roles when ive seen em do good work before. Ive only been kicked in the groin once and suffice to say i never went back for more. And Spiderman 2 will be at my local theater by the end of the month, the week after Kill Bill Vol. 2 finally shows up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats it Hill, just keep kicking against the spurs!! Hey, one thing i will say for Hill is he does not flip flop, atleast he consistently does'nt like anything "Hollywood" puts out.
Saw it, and really enjoyed it. Deffinently the best Super Hero flick thus far, though so much info was cramme in that cwertain scenes I would have liked to see pan out a tad bit more were rushed through just a bit (Mainly the Harry Osbourne stuff) It was a nice mix of the comic lore with reality dashed in to ground it, and I loved the fact that his life was'nt all fun and games. That sort of power and responsibility would most likley make you miserable.
On a side bar In October I get to meet Michael Chabon who along with Miles Millar created the story for Spider-Man 2. He is appearing in October for a small, tickets only (which had to be bought almost 2 months ago) crowd at the Central Library here in Charlotte. So how did I snag em? My wife works for the library so she learns about all this stuff ahead of time. More importantly however he wrote the novel turned film, "Wonder Boys" as well as "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" which he is now penning the screenplay for. Now he had nothing to do with the screenplay for Spidey 2 but has been attatched to do the screenplay for Spider-Man 3 so it has some damn fine potential. I'll let you know how it turns out. R. Kyle did you see Spidey 2? There were plenty of Raimisms. I personally didn't care for this movie as much as I hoped. I don't know how people can talk about the first movie having cheese dialogue when this one is worse. I hated the fact that they relied on like three or four stupid conventions of the first movie. My biggest gripe is Doc Oc though, he was a total puss and not nearly as menacing as the Willem Dafoe. I argued for the use of CGI in Spidey 2 saying that it was completely necaserry for what needed be done, but finally after watching the movie I see how they actually went overboard and used it in places that could've been filmed practically, not to mention that the quality of CGI was pretty damn piss poor in some areas of the film.
X-Men 2 is still the best superhero movie, even with Halle Barry as Storm.

no. I didn't. But I saw the first one and didn't like it. I seriously can no longer stand computer generated crap in movies.
Computer generated crap, to me, is the equivilent to those old Sci-Fi movies where we see the wires hanging and the laser blasts drawn in on the frames. It looks like crap. There's a very short list of movies with computer generated stuff in it that I like. I can't stand it, watch Star Wars Episode 2 to get the best idea of how crappy computer generated stuff has come, it just so overboard in that movie its not funny, and it looks so............I can't think of the word, not fake but....it just doesn't look like a movie. Scenes where EVERYTHING is computer generated and then there's two actors in the scene looks RETARDED. Everything around them is fake except THEM. And if thats not enough, get this, Star wars episode 3 is going to have NO SHOOTING LOCATIONS EXCEPT A STUDIO. So basically a few props for the background (which is a bluescreen)
I hate computer generated images in movies, it's ruining film.

I loved his character. Too often we see these super vilians with no other motive then World Domination. Like Spiderman, the villian was also humanized, and made him all the more bone chilling.
Tizzy, wasn't it the most awesome shot when all the people hands on the train reached out to bring spiderman back, and the shot was completely focused on the spider symbol? That shot just made the movie.

[spoilers ahead] Doc Oc's motivation should've been the death of his wife and the failure of his experiment. Instead we get a castrated man who's a slave to his own robotic arms, lame. [/spoilers]
I don't mind a lot of CGI in films just as long as the effect is done well and couldn't have been done practically. Harry Potter and the PoA is a good example, the hippogriff in that movie was pretty damn amazing, it was difficult to tell what parts of it were real and what weren't. But when I look at Spidey 2 and go "OMG that CGI glass looks like crap," I get aggrevated.
I can't wait for a Halle Barry-less X3.

Yeah, I heard that the comic was actually good but the movie is totally raping the name. But it could be good news if she decides to stick with Catwoman instead of X-Men.

i thought spiderman 2 was pretty good. from a screenwriting point of view it was nearly flawless. maybe a few spots of dialogue werent the best, but overall i thought it was good. i thought the cg was excellent and i likes dr ock better than the goblin because he was a more well-rounded character (which is more important to me than the bad guy just being pure evil).
and i didnt like the first spiderman that much the first time i saw it, but after seeing it again a few times, it grew on me. it too has a pretty good screenplay.
I thought this Spider man was a whole lot better than the first, the romance was more sincere and Kirsten Dunst wasn't as annoying. And if I remember correctly, Doc Ock was pretty intimidating. The hospital scene was one of the most graphic villian scene that I have seen in a superhero movie. I would give it 3 out of 5. They also improved the coloring of the CG spidey and added more actual actor stand ins. But why I am posting a comment is about CGI. CGI is becoming ridiculous. I didn't like the Episodes 1 & 2 because it was a huge CGI show. Same with the Matrix sequels, the first was more enclosed and more personal and then they made the other two. The last James Bond movie had a CG Bond surfing... WTF! Stunts are cool because you know it is a human being doing something extremely dangerous. I was sitting in the theatre, waiting to see Van Helsing (shudder) when I noticed something; none of the previews got to me or touched me like The Village did. All of these other CGI ladden previews were like fluff compared to the power I felt from seeing The Village preview. Personally, I am sick of CGI. I am sick of these hudge budget films that have CG stunts, and CG vehicles. Just like "bullet time", CGI has been worked to death. I want to be challenged, I want to be touched, I want to feel , when I watch a movie. If I want CGI I'll go play a video game.

I completely agree with you. Now don't get it wrong, however, that CGI does have a proper context. (Like a guy swinging at neck breaking speed building to building in New York). Yes, teh Villiage hit me a whjole lot harder then all teh otehr previews, because everything was TANGIBLE. That's also why I liked Hidalgo, because every few seconds there wasn't a graphics shot. That is why I admire the older Star Wars and all the bigatures used in LOTR. They required a thought process rather then punching in a few calculations on a computer.
