Unbefreakinglievable. One of the best movies I've ever seen. The trailers make this look pretty horrible, but it was the exact opposite. Flawless in every way. Amazing writing. Some of the sharpest, cleverest, most dangerous writing I've ever seen. Amazing. Just amazing. GO SEE IT. | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." Based on that alone I'll be watching "Who's That Knocking At My Door?" tonight, any of you wanting your to be "completely f'ed up" for real this time should do the same.

The best part of seeing it again was watching the faces of the audience members around me. I didn't even watch the screen during all those shock moments near the end. I was looking around, and every single person had their hands over their mouth and a look of total shock on their faces. Brilliant filmmaking. | PerryKroll.com | TRC | "If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled." Wodehouse

Saw it twice. Going again soon. Incredible film. quote: Based on that alone I'll be watching "Who's That Knocking At My Door?" tonight, any of you wanting your to be "completely f'ed up" for real this time should do the same. Knocking is good but simple, and other films have given the "Real Men Marry Virgins" doctrine briefer and more thorough treatment. Mean Streets is a far more accomplished work. And anyway, The Departed is different than those two films and, in some ways, much much better. This is not an average cop/criminal examination like Heat (though I do like Heat); it tears away at the two leads until they're skeletons. Soon I will see Infernal Affairs, the basis for the story of The Departed, but I don't expect it to be better or anywhere near as good as Scorsese's picture.

THis is Google times better than Miami Vice. Miami vice wasted 2 hours of my pure and natural life. glad to see colin and jayme can both have "fun" with girls in the shower.

No, Miami Vice was amazing. I'm skeptical that Departed will be as intelligent and gripping...

And how did you come to this conclusion? Miami Vice was sexually and violently exploitative and criminally derivative. Departed was none of the above. A quick look at what the critics say pretty much sum up the difference between the two. Out of 170-some critics, only twelve didn't like Departed. Critics hated Miami Vice (47% on rottentomatoes.com). Putting aside this board's seemingly negative distrust of movie critics in general, isn't that saying something? Please tell me you were joking
