The new Dannie Darko "Director's Cut" is ****ing bad ass...it makes 1,000,000 times more sense than the original version. PLUS...there is new music and added scenes that were not found on the DVD extras. They did some cool editing stuff as well, that helped tell the story much better than the original release.. I couldn't believe what they left out after seeing what the director's vision really was...they really ****ed up the story the first time around with the choosen scense they cut out, even though it was only allowed to be 2 hours the first go...but they came through with the re-release and I give it 4 3/4 stars out of 5.

Oh hell yeah...I know, the first one (original version) was my old favorite movie. But now the director's cut is my favorite movie.

And I know he had to cut it a lot the first time around, but there were things in the second version that they could have had in the first with out making it longer...maybe the editor wasn't looking at the film from a subjective view. Damnit I should have went to listen to Richard Kelly talk about the re-release at SIFF last weekend. Damn my schedule!

heh cool, sounds awesome....

Although on the directors commentary on the original version i'm sure I remember Richard Kelly saying how the film almost didn't get financed because he would only make the film he wanted to, and wouldn't budge on that?

If there was ever a film I'd want a sneak peak of, it'd be this directors cut. Mind Rite, how did you see the film 1 month before its release? Hearing how clear it was over the original makes me want to see it really bad. The original was a powerhouse but lets admit--it felt like it was missing one or two things. Knowing theres more is awesome because I got the film to a certain degree but with a little bit more everything might click.

It's a shame films have to be cut down because studios don't trust new directors or want long movies. If Kelly had already done a good film, the studio might have let him call the shots, for sure if it profited. If studios did'nt force these time limits some average films could be alot better.

If its Friday June 4th, check this out:

It opens July 23rd in limited release. I read about the Seatle festival premiere yesterday. Your lucky that you got to see it, I don't know of any other festival showing it.

It gets a limited release on july 23.

As with anything, this was a decision based on money. The original release got just $500k from the domestic box office. But, it's now made more than ten million from DVD sales. So, it's got a built in fan base already--most who never saw it in the theater.
