On a side note, what ever happened to Evan? He was one of the more interesting people to listen to on this forum, not matter what you thought of him. I don't know I was just reading through this thread and found his comments really entertaining; I wish there were more posters like him on this site, maybe then this site would at least have a smidgen more life in it then it has right now.

Anyway the Departed clearly should not have won best film it was decent and Marty's still the man but Children of Men outclassed it by a mile.

I agree, and disagree. CoM is not an Oscar winner. It's easily MY favorite of the year (maybe of the past three years) but it's not in the Academy's style. It didn't stand a chance for Best Picture.

Very true and that sums up what's sad about the Academy. But again ultimatley I think it will be a good paragraph in film history books for years to come! And I think it's influence will be felt in the coming years.

Unfortunalty I think we may have more homo-erotic gladiator flicks in the pipeline after 300's success!
