I saw the film 'WRONG TURN" today. And I would recommend it if you enjoy hillbilly movies like Deliverance & Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film isn't paying homage to the film, it's actually more original than you might think it is. For one there's no homosexual rape scenes or a mad-man with a chainsaw...instead we get three terribly deformed mountain men carrying bow & arrow, axes, and rifles. The film of course is inspired by the above two films I mentioned...they even mention Deliverance. The only thing I had a problem with in the film were the hillbillies. They didn't seem like hillbillies. First off they couldn't really talk...I think maybe they were retarded...but I don't think if they were retarded they'd be able to fire an arrow through a Sheriff's eye socket. They sorted just grunted and one reminded me of the Hitchhiker from Texas Chainsaw. I also didn't like the way the hillbillies looked...they looked WAY to deformed...but not realistically deformed. They looke more like monsters...at first you think it's more a psychological horror film, like Deliverance and Chainsaw, but then it sorta becomes a monster movie. The hillbillies reminded me of the army of goblin things in Lord of the Rings. But there was a good amount of decapitations and amputations in the film. Once again, I only recommend if your a fan of the genre.

Yeah, I actually caught this flick, and it was pretty damn good. Actually, it is more inspired by the story of the Sawny Bean clan. (Texas Chainsaw, The hills have eyes, and even the Thirtenth warrior were all inspired by it as well, hence the similarities.)

Sawney Bean was a Scott, who ran off with his sister and formed their own clan through inbreeding. They are reported to have numbered between 75 and 100, and they began killing and eating people who travled through a section of woods near their home.

The reason they were deformed, and couldnt speak in "Wrong Turn" is because (as told in the news clippings during the opening credits.) They were a group (much like Sawney Bean) who left society, and had continued therough inbreeding. The result is deformities, and retardation. There not just hillbillies, they are inbread, deformed hillbilies. Some handicapped people seem stronger then their proportioned size. Make a big deformed hillbilly, and hes super strong (as the plot suggest.)

The scary thing is, anyone who has ever been to West Virginia would absolutley believe that something like that could be true. Some really wierd people, especially when you get deeper into the mountains. If you like horror, with good death FX, I would recommend it as well.

That's really interesting...I understand now their deformities and all. That's pretty sick though...running into the forest with your sister and making hillbillies. Man thats wrong...

Ya know how the film ended the way it did, with the credits starting but then it going back to the burned house? I could see the sequel..."ANOTHER Wrong Turn" HAH! Eek
