no "about schmidt" or "adaption" or "punch-drunk love"?
i'd say my favorite is punch-drunk love! a real departure on style for both PT Anderson and Adam Sandler.
" I won't show you tonight what requires many hours of progressive and scientific exercises to even begin to make itself visable; besides I would need space and air, and especially a head of steam -- which I haven't got."
Oh crap! I keep forgetting Punch-Drunk Love! That was really good

Mr. Anderson will not win a best movie or best director oscar from the academy. No, rather the academy might see it fit down the road to slip him an oscar for best original screenplay, but god forbid PT Anderson taking the top 2.

quote: The director is a rapist. The LA District Attorney's office will arrest him if he shows up to pick up his oscar in LA. Rapist. I hate rapists.
Actually, he is worst then a rapist, he is a pedahpile. He had sexual relations (conscensual, or other wise) with several 13-15 year old girls, and ended up marrying one. (This is when he was forced to leave the country.) I hate Roman Polansky as a result, but he wont be arrested. He poped up in L.A. about 5 years ago to announce his return. Everyone clapped, and kissed his ass, and basically, law enforcment said, "All is forgiven." Punk ass. He's one of those guys that pulls crap like that, and instead of being considered a pervert, people like to call him eccentric. B.S. politics of Hollywood.
My vote is also for "Punch Drunk Love" BTW. R. Michael McWhorter
I'm surprised to see all of this support for Punch Drunk Love. The directing was well done, but I don't know.... That film felt kind of flat to me.
I was hoping to see Sandler really stretch his bounds and truly impress me, but his performance was nothing more than... how can I phrase this... a sampler of all of the basic Sandler emotions. Every emotion and expression that I've seen Sandler use in other films was used in Punch Drunk Love, only this time, rather than stick with one for the entire movie, he jumps around. I guess some would call that "range," but to me it seemed forced.
Not to say that it's a bad movie, but definately not the best of the year. Go Adaptation.
I'll agree with you on that. Sandler was a bit bland, as he always is. It's always been my opinion that he should stick to the inane comedies that he's so infamous for. I see what the director saw when he casted Sandler. In a way, he fits the character, but I think perhaps someone like Stuart Townsend would have been better in the role.
The directing and editing of this film, however, are irresistable.
