I watched this movie again today (I own it on dvd)... and I was thinking....

The Beach is seriously underrated... I think its because most people see Leonardo DiCaprio and immediatly think cheesy love story.... but its not that at all.

The Beach is a brilliantly well told story and the Cinematography is GREAT. Its suspenseful, interesting... its just great.

I was wondering if anyone out there likes this film as much as I do...and if you don't, why?.... and if you haven't seen it I Highly reccomend it.

I agree, I liked The Beach. I feel that it is a very intelligent, brooding film that's very underrated. It gets a little formulaic at times, true, but hey, what movie doesn't these days? I still cannot believe Leonardo DiCaprio got a Razzie nomination for this one, because I thought his performance was really good. I guess the Razzies cannot always be trusted...

I thought it was mediocre. Good concept and story, but DiCaprio wasn't good casting. I would've preferred to see someone like Brad Pitt play that character.

Noway... BRad Pitt is a GReat actor and everything but Caprio is better... definitly...

Brad Pitt gives off more of an Older Guy type vibe.... Caprio is good at playing the young innocent type... which Richard is.

didn't they cut down a crapload of trees to make that film and piss off all the enviornmental people? Sounds pretty irresponsible of the studio to do that just for a movie, especially since it flopped.
