everyone who has seen brian depalmas version should see the original done by howards hawks. it was really incredible esp. for being as old as it is, and it seems that depalma pretty much remade the movie, changing only the time, place and nationality. almost everything is the same between the two, there are a few differences, such as in depalmas version tony is cuban, runs drugs instead of booze...and thats about it. i actually liked the orginal a little better...it had a sense of humor to go with the brutal violence that the updated scarface lacked. seriously though, check it out.

I think the 1983 Version has humor....darker humor....I laugh everytime I see Tony stoned outta his mind while sitting in the Babylon club (right before it's shot up) There's quite a few funny parts, I think one of the most humorous is when Manny is showing Tony what American women like....and he starts sticking his tongue out...and Tony goes, "what the fück is that?"

yeah...but...i guess you have to see the older version to get what im saying. theres a whole howard hawks sort of comic routine that doesnt look out of place and fits into the movie ( anyone familiar with the sort of comedies that howard hawks made, such as bringing up baby, knows what im saying...i hope.)

When OCTAVIO gets riddled with bullets I laugh and laugh.
