This movie was probably quite a challenge to make. It is incredibly complex and fast-paced, but I think they pulled it off. Great story, great performances, and a real triumph of storytelling. Bravo, Mr. Pollack.

sydney pollack is getting boring in his old age. he just rambled on and on when he was on Charlie Rose. Although Rose did keep asking him the same questions.

he's like Robert Altman, he gets everyone real comfortable and gives them room to play but doesn't ever really try to make anything more out of it. to make the comparison, it's like Kubrick always made more out of everything, but sacrificed characters to make a point.

the trailer has me wondering what the crime/plot is, but i'll only go see it after someone tells me what happens so i can figure out whether it's worth the money or not.

I read in several reviews that it's well-made but lacks any core substance or point. "A surprisingly apolitical political thriller," I believe one writer mentioned.

It didn't strike me as particularly compelling, although I usually love alternate-history/political manipulation films.

HDK - did you see the movie, or are you just reviewing the ad?

According to the Globe the plot is to assassinate an African Dictator.

Sometimes the ads are misleading. It looks like it will be good and I'll probably see it (I like Penn and Pollack), but the trailer could have included all the "high" parts!

I hope not. We'll see.

the weird thing is that the movie was released in the netherlands a week earlier than in the usa. Can anyone say why this is, The most of the times we have to wait a few months after the release in the usa

I was not too impressed with it. The acting was good but the plot, which did have a few interesting twists to it, to its credit-just didn't appeal to me. I don't know how to say it. It was a good idea but I don't think they quite pulled it off.

It's our job as Christians to get the word out about Him. Who have you talked to about Jesus today?

Wow! I finally got around to seeing that! Luckily I was able to find a theater still showing it, cause it definitely deserved the big screen.

Fantastically gripping and 100% believable. Everything from the bus explosion to the motorcade seemed like it really happened. Very complex and fast-paced story, neat visual style, great acting.

I need to see that again to try to totally comprehend the plot. There are still a few things I haven't completely figured out a day later.
