if you listen closly they say there is a dead lady in there and a dog ( or cat i forgot which ) I think he knew he was going to die and didnt want them to suffer because they would depend on him for food... that or he was afraid they might torture her in front of him as a way of trying to get information out of him. Thats the way I took it but I could be wrong.

I know that, I took it as society viewing her in her comatose-like condition as her being dead, but Jasper knew that she was very much alive. Maybe I'm just digging for things, but I really like the movie much better, when I take it as that.

lol for some reason student film makers are always out lookin for a deeper meaning in a scene so i cant really blame the guy for thinkin that. But damn I think sometimes a writer wont even intend on havin a "Deeper meaning" then when everyone starts looking into it and assuming he does then he jus pulls an... um... yeah... thats EXACTLY what i was trying to do lol

Just saw it last night.

It was a good movie at first, it had my attention, but once everything started rolling I was glued to the screen the whole time, tense in my seat. Pacing was very well done.
Everything in the movie had a climax.
-character development
-degree of tensity
-story development

even the arrival of the army was climactic. WE built up from police force to army.

Beautiful, beautiful movie.

Some folks were discussing the wife before.

When the wife character is introduced theres a few shots of newsclippings from her past. She was a photojournalist that was tortured and released. So I thought she represented what has happened to modern media (abused and comatose) in relation to current events. I get what Mike Jones was saying about a "cigar just being a cigar" but Cauron is on a higher plain bro most of this film is politically intentional.

And how the Departed Won Best Picture over this is absurd.

I don't understand why some people think Blood Diamond or Babel is better than this film. I understand the whole opinion thing, but this film is on a higher level, is more visceral, natural, and entertaining.

Agreed this was superior to the Departed, but it's a hell of a lot better than any of the other films that could have won instead of it (note, did not see The Queen or last King of Scotland, but I assume those are just for the great acting anyway).
