I disagree. I think the 3D effect was put in at a pull away from television. This has been done before a good while ago then repeated and now it's back. It's a trend that doesn't last very long or seem to work very well. I don't know why they would keep using it... Hmm... Now I'm second guessing myself.

Ok, I take aome BIG issues with this statment. First of all, since when is it bad to make a film so that you can "make money" Damnit, if im not going to get paid I might as well quit the bizz now (and if your not interested in making films that make money, you may as well to) I could say the same thign for EVERY horror film ever made "They put in naked chicks for the sole purpose of making money."
Second of all, this isnt your typical "Studio likes an idea, and cranks out multiple sequels to make a quick buck." Robert Rodriguez designed them as a trilogy, and has written and directed all three. Therfore they arent simple throw away sequels. The 3D thing, is the same reason he dd the very "claymation" style CGI in part three. He was a fan of the old Claymation epic movies like "Jason and the Argaunots" and wanted to pay homage in his film. Now, its the 3D experience.
Hey, im not saying you have to spend your hard earned cash to go see it, but theres no reason to b***h slap it eithere. R. M.

I really don't like Spy Kids 2 so I ain't seeing Spy Kids 3D. If you have ever listened to Ebert & Roeper talk about the three movies, I'm basically right where they are, I agree with everything they say about the movies...Spy Kids was good, original, and a fun kids movie. Then Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams; for a kids movie, it was better than most, but it wasn't as good or entertaining as the first one. I think Ebert said something to the likes of, "They wern'r actually "spying" in the second one" But then comes Spy Kids 3D, I don't want to see this one. I watched the commercial and trailers and it just doesn't look good to me. The whole idea of going into the video game is kinda stupid along with the "graphics" look like something outta legos. Roger Ebert said something like, "This movie wouldn't have been any better in 2D." I never have liked 3D movies (except for the ones where your chair moves and it's like a ride, they have a Dinosaur one like that, cool) Maybe Rodriguez should have made a ride outta that one, probably be more entertaining.
What ever happend to Jay, that guy knew what he was talking about as far as the "real Hollywood" business side. If you make a movie with a crew of 200 hundred people, a rented studio lot of 8 months, and thousands of movie houses to send your final reel to....then you damn well better be making some serious money or it's not worth the effort.
There are many ways to be creative, but really only one way to sell pop corn...and that is to get as many people into the theater as possible.
The silence of awe shall soon be heard.

Have you seen Robert Rodriguez's private facility? Nuff said.....
But I'll add: A few months of your life every few years is not a high price to pay to have the "$MEANS$" to do the films you "really" care about... (be smart... not proud)
Is it selling out, or is it NOT being a dumb-ass! Some day you all may understand which is which.... Robert Rodriguez understands full well what he's doing. Many of you are too young to get the big picture (literally) but someday it will start to make more sense.
BTW.... If you wanna see a smaller film my wife was involved with go see "Le Divorce" opening Aug. 8th (we went to the premiere last week). Probably not a film you all would relate to though? There is gonna be another film coming out very soon that will be awesome, more my speed (my wife sold this as well, it's by my favorite writer and friend)! Can't say much more at this point, other than it's completely character driven, smartly written, quirky, and a bit dark.... Also another one in the vein of Harry Potter but darker! Oh, and an action flick too... More to come! Stay tuned.....
Keep writing and filming guys.. in time.

yeah I know what Rodriguez is doing, but I just think he could have put more time and thought into his screenplay...and maybe realease the films NOT SO close together...did the last one just come out last year?
Just a better script...I mean, whats better than a movie that makes a lot of money......and still has a good script?

Aparently, 3-D.
I think rodriguez is testing his limits with Harvey Weintein. This is how it went down: "You want me to do a sequel to Spy Kids? Fine, but I want to use HD cameras instead of film." "You want me to do a sequel to the sequel? Fine but it's HD and 3-D. Start investing in carboard 3-d glasses companies. And bt the way, I also want my own production studio and edit suite in my house in Texas."
I say why not! go for it dude. just don't expect me to wear those glasses anytime soon. So, if there's a Spy Kids 4, do you think it'll be IMAX 3-d? I'd go see that.

If you havent...
As to "Why did he have to release them so close togethere?" The answer is those kids. That girl is practicaully a woman. Next year shell be 21 (not really, Im just sayin) They were growing to fast, and if he didnt shoot it sooner then later, it wasnt going to happen.

Yeah I guess your right about the kids...I never thought about that. I guess I forgot. Maybe there can be a Spy Kids 4: PG 13 or something where the chick is a teenager and is experimenting with sex and drugs or something? J/k...

Yeah well according to my moms cousin which i dont know if he is my cousin, he said he made it for kids, well duh, but i mean hes an awesome filmmaker, though yes spy kids is juicy and boring some how, but its for kids. I think ebert and roper, should not be judging kids movies as a titanic , matrix movie. I dotn know thats my opinion any thoughts on that write back.
