As much as I love dinosaurs, giant apes, and Jack Black, I'm not excited about this film. The CG looks bad, and, unless they pull some surprises (which doesn't seem the case), I know the whole story. I'd rather watch Peter Jackson wallpaper his house with $100 bills than sit through this crap.
I think the movie is going to rock. Although I must say I think this movie is mostly suitable for cinema, I really have doubts whether people can enjoy it in front of their television.
I've seen most of the prod. diary's Everything looks really interesting. Almost everyone abord worked on LOTR as well.
I completely disagree with your statement about the CG. At the moment the only movie I can come up with that will probably surpass King Kong's CG shots, is Episode III, cause let's face it, ILM did a marvellous job there and in my opinion, they have raised the bar for another 10 years.
The CG'll rock, you can be sure about that. They 've got some great animators up there. The textures all look great. Compositing is really good. Most of the city is CG, the cars, wide shots, buildings, but I can't tell whether it's fake or not (of course I KNOW, but that's because I have the understanding of what is to be put into CG or not). Yes I do CG, so I do think I kinda know what I'm talking about.
All concluded I think you're talking crap about the CG here. They'll rock. Although I'm not sure whether WETA can prove they can rival with ILM again, I don't think so.

I hope ur not judging fx off a web video... episode 3 trailers looked fake off a web video, and look how they turned out. give it a chance in the cinema.

The film looked fake too But yeah, I'm going to wait in this and see what happens. There is such a thing as a bad trailer, and the film may be wayyy better than it seems from this.

I liked the processed look of the Kong trailer, gave the thing a weird surreal feel. As far as the CG I thought the KING himelf looked great, the dinos were a little off, but it was good enough for me. That entire city set in the beginning was CG, thought that looked amazing. The most interesting thing to me was the natives, and how he portrayed them almost like zombies or creechers from a horror movie. Even in LOTR some of my favorite parts were when his horror roots seeped into the film (underwater ghost guys in Part 2), so I'm glad to see he's mixing his styles. On a trailer side note, I loved the Firefly TV series but hate the Serenity movie trailer, so hopefully they won't screw that up...
This is Peter Jackson we are talking about. A director that took one of the greatest stories and made it into the greatest trilogy in film history. And he has that same empowerment to make King Kong into a great film!

I saw the trailer before watching War of the Worlds. It looked friggin awesome, and I'm not even one of those crazy Peter Jackson obsessed fans. Jack Black, a giant monkey and a good looking lady. How can you go wrong with that?

I have a feeling that once the CG is completly done, PJ will once again make an excellent movie. Personally I haven't been more excited to see a movie since I found out Jessica Alba was playing a stripper in Sin City.

And I don't think I'll have been more disappointed than when I saw Jessica Alba in Sin City. There's a certain connotation, a particular image, which the word "stripper" calls to mind, and which I found conspicuously absent in Sin City. It's called Jessica Alba's boobs.
Harris, we fought over Michael Bay, but goddamn I agree with you on King Kong...I never liked Jackson, and cast aside, there's nothing appealing to me about this film.

Yeah, with you on that one. She is so stingy with those things. Well everyone's entitled to their opinion ,but King Kong has such a good story. I must say though, that after seeing Lord of the Rings, I can't help being bit of a PJ fanboy.
Bruce the Moose, I really wanted this thread to veer off into a tangent solely about Jessica Alba's boobs, but it looks like we're back on track now. Damn.
Anyway, now that the original topic is the subject at hand once again, I'll say that I'm sure I will be going to see King Kong when he arrives. I have to admit Jackson has proven himself a poet of visuals, despite my personal opinions of the stories he chooses. I'll be interested to see what he can do with another larger-than-life story, another set of CGI sets and characters, and another giant sum of money.
