Probably better than the second one, but still not as good as the first. I was disappointed that they didn't leave it open for a fourth... I was hoping the movies would become this generation's Jason or Freddy movies.
Anyway, I enjoyed it immensely. The Jeff character was a little underdeveloped, which was too bad because he was a good character; you could understand the moral conflict he was going through (probably the character that the audience could identify with the most). I think Amanda makes a lousy villain; she's not intimidating and she never appears to be in control of herself or the situation (as opposed to John/Jigsaw, who's the exact opposite. Even in a hospital bed where he's weak and vulnerable, that guy scares the hell out of me).
I also like how it picked up right where the second one left off, and I liked the flashbacks to the first movie.
Discuss.

You make it sound like some Paul Haggis bull**** drama, its a D-grade horror flick, appropriate language including "DUDE" "AWESOME" and "DUDE!" is expected

I thought it was ok, not as good as the first. It would've been better, in my opinion, if they focused the movie on Detective Mathews. Don't fret though, there's always someway to make a sequel (or even a prequel pehaps ).

Josh, I definetely agree with you on the Amanda thing. She is terrible. That is why I hated the second Saw. I was reading a review from movies.com, and the guy made a point that really just clarifies why they could never beat the first one (besides that nobody can really top an original (except if its Spiderman)).
The uncertainty aspect of the first one made it. Who's killing, why, and what's going to happen??? Those questions are answered in the first, and you already know them in the sequels. Jigsaw, because he thinks he's smart, and everyone is going to die.

I'm not so sure I agree with Godfather II being less than its predecessor. In my opinion I feel they are both equal and stand together as a whole (I really like the recut version of 1 and 2 that airs on TV sometime, minus the edited for tv content). The third does not even equal the s**t of the first two movies (Thank you Sofia Coppola).

Just saw it, and I felt it was as good as the second one up until the last 10 minutes. They treat the audience like they were idiots (I know some of them probably are) but they spend the last moments of the film explaining every single twist and plot element. It just felt so insulting that I'm not allowed to figure it out for myself. The first movie had this exposition but it was very short and less insulting. It definitely made this one lose points in my book. I'll say it was good and should be watched by those who liked the first two movies, but it's definitely a kind of low point for me with the movies (and I can't believe they're making a fourth film, Hollywood just needs to ruin every franchise).
