ENVY - I made a big mistake by going to see this movie and not checking the reviews first. No plot development at all and not one funny moment in the film. This movie sucks; I advise you not to see it if you were even considering it at all.
It is the biggest ET ripoff of all time. It's got a stranded baby alien, a little kid who befriends the alien (except this time he's in a wheelchair), government agencies trying to capture the alien, and just about every other plot convention from ET, except 100 times more crappily made.
Plus, it's like one giant advertisement for McDonalds, Coke, and Skittles. You see, the baby alien is only able to drink Coke and eat Skittles, both of which he slowly moves across the screen, label toward the camera, for all to see. The worst scene is an entire dance number in a McDonald's restraunt, including Ronald McDonald.
Has anyone seen the movie A crack in the floor? This is one of the worst horror movies I have ever seen! It looks like they spent more money on the cover then the movie, which they probably did.

House party 4 is my choice boys. It's the biggest rip off of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It's with Marques Houston, and it ruined the whole series. I used to love the House Party movies when I was a kid. This just ruined it.

No. You need to rent that movie and watch it some day and realize just how bad it is. So bad its not even fun. Its not the worst movie ever, but I don't respect it for what its become. Its more a comedy than anything else. The mother in that film is hillarious, over melodramatic overacting is hillarious, and the fact that she becomes an alchoholic half way through the film is funny, we see her pull the bottle out from funny places like a closet, under a pillow, ect. No actor is good in this movie except John Saxon and Johnny Depp, the main character girl is terrible and not even attractive. Freddy Kruegar is overrated. He's not scary. He's like a stupid clown (The scene where he stretches his arms 30 feet across the alley in order to make the SCREECHING noise with his claw is laugh out loud hillarious) The music is decent at first, but overused. The movie has a made for TV feel (Was it made for TV?) cause there's these abrupt FADE TO BLACKS every 15 minutes that seem perfect for commercial breaks. The ending is a mess and has one of the funniest scenes ever where Kruegar pulls the mom through a small door window (She is replaced by a blow up doll)
I don't see how anyone can watch this movie as what its supposed to be; a classic horror movie. Because its not. Nothing is scary and the gore is weak and only on screen a few seconds.
Back to the woman who played the mom, I find her more disturbing than any other character in film history, just her mannerisms creap me out, overacting can be easily detected in films, but in this movie its like she's being herself, as in I can't picture her any way else. I'd be creeped out if i met that woman. (and I swear I think she's in a band-aid commercial thats been playing the passed 5 years where she says, "All better" while touching a little boy.)
Like I said before, I can't view this movie as a horror, its almost like Craven never intended it as one either.

I'll have to say that I haven't seen A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET in quite awhile and it may not be the best horror movie on the block, but there are plenty of films out there that are much worse, like the EXORCIST II and III !
I have to admit that all of the points you made were pretty accurate though (I thought the blow-up doll being pulled out of the door was hilarious when it came out), but when the movie was released, it was quite a popular movie series (not for made-for-TV).
Because of the current teen slasher movies (FRI the 13th and HWN), Freddie made the movie popular as he wasn't just stalking you with a machete or some farm instrument, but invading your dreams and telling you bad jokes before killing you!
Sadly though, the film has become a bit of a joke, but having watched it "way back when" - during it's heyday - I will always have a special affection for it! Bad jokes and all!
I would rather watch NIGHTMARE than a Pauly Shore movie, THE SUBSTITUTE sequels - or something by the Olson Twins!
Okay, I've made my decision....Citizen Kane. AH! Just kidding
Actually, I'm still thinking. There are a lot of really really bad movies out there. Gigli, Glitter, Kazaam, Battlefield Earth, Problem Child 3, the list goes on and on and on. I haven't actually seen it, but I hear From Justin to Kelly is pretty TERRIBLE. Oh, and what about the first Lord of the Flies movie. That was a terrible movie. It should be remade...again.
