LOTR was a good movie...get over it, because deep down, you know its true...

I thought COLD MOUNTAIN should have won more awards than it did...
THAT WAS AN AWESOME MOVIE...

I tuned out after about 45 mins of the show, I didnt want to waste my time, when I can just get a list of everyone who won...

big fish was not a musical nor comedy, but whatever. and lotr was nominated as Return of the King... which sucked big time. especially compaired to the rest of the stuff up there, well cept master and comander. too bad the voters forgot it was just the third segment and not the whole series. oh well, at least charlieze won what she deserved.

LOTR was obviously going to take it all. It's going to take it all at the Oscars, too. These awards shows are all politics.

And I thought Lost In Translation was total crap.

and to show what kind of idiots the golden globes are...lost in translation is NOT a comedy. It has comedy in it (countable on one hand), but as a film, it's a drama. i doubt they've even seen the film.

LOTR was a good movie, however, I did not deserve to win. Mystic River was by far the best movie that was nominated. They were right to give the actor awards to Penn and Robbins, but it deserves the Director and Picture Award. I was disappointed. However I do agree on, Angels in America getting all those awards, that was a phenominal movie. Good Job!

Lord of the Rings totally deserved to win. Think about what those movies have done for the industry in the last few years. All the money they pullled in, all the exposure and merchandising they got. It is Hollywood's obligation to finally say "thank you" and give it some awards, since it got shafted for the first two installments. Those movies are absolute treasures. 20 years down the line, do you think people are going to remember the title Lord of the Rings better, or Lost in Translation? It's got the production value, the staying power, and the heaping profits to back it up. Hats off the Peter Jackson: you deserved it.

Matrix Reloaded pulled in an assload of money, and had a lot of merchandising. Suppose that also deserved best picture? Hollywood should never need to say thank you, boxoffice shouldn't mean **** come award shows.

i agree. and movies like the matrix and lotr should know that. thoes movies deserve tech awards like hair and makup or best special efx but, it just isn't on the same level as some of the other films nominated.

Alan, that is exactly the kind of thinking that makes award shows a joke. Give it to them as a thanks for making so much money? Or because the first 2 didn't win? rediculous. I dig the whole trilogy but none of the 3 deserve to win a best picture award. All 3 movies are flawed and should be happy with their music and technical awards. Leave the big boy awards to the movies that deserve them. and I agree, Mystic River got shafted so Hollywood didn't make Peter Jackson sad. Also, LOTR will be like Titanic and The English Patient as epics that won and people look back 10 years later and say oops, our bad.

Also, how did Seabiscuit get nominated for best picture and nothing else...odd.

I don't get this lost in translation fad. It was a solid, different movie, but it sure as hell isn't best picture material. I really just don't see what the hoopla about it is. Sofia Coppola makes an indie film with Bill Murray...it could have been about monkeys hurling feces at each other and it would have received the same praise methinks.

Lost In Translation was amazing and I'm finally happy the dickhead Globes didn't look a great film over for the Renee Zellweger ****fest that was Cold Mountain. That ***** is always attached to the Oscar heavy project with Harvey the dick Weinstein aboard. She lost and so did Harvey. Good. First Chicago and now Cold Mountain. Things are changing finally...for the better. Glad that LOTR won as well. No more Zellweger crapfests. Make room for the cool stuff, no more Kidman-esque crap.

I think a lot of you guys need to show a little more respect. The fact that you say lord of the rings is a piece of crap is ignorent. I think that it will definetly be around in ten years and people will look back on it and think wow, what a great trilogy. It's the great epic of our time, the (origional) star wars if you will. After all, they are some of the best selling books of all time, not far behind the bible.

And as far as cold mountian goes, if you can't appriciate Renee Zelwegger's performance in that then you don't know a whole lot about acting. Sure it is a part that will turn the heads of most awards judges but, as soon as I saw that movie I thought he definetly deserved a nomination.

I think a lot of you guys that are on here just start trash talking, thinking that your cinema's savior even though your still in high school and have only shot a couple movies on your parents digital camera. Quite honestly it makes it annoying to get on the message board and listen to the streams of pretentious crap. Sure every one is entitled to their own opinion but try to back it up with some reasons other than, it sucks with thirteen exclaimation points after it. For those of you not in college, some other serious program or the industy. I think once you get further into the filmmaking industry you'll realize that theres a lot of talented people out there and to make money in this BUSINESS some things need to be compromised, because if you won't there are probably those who will. So come up with something really great, or else to stay afloat you'll have to make some sacrifices with your work....not that I really even know yet, I prefer to remain pretty humble.

i agree with you on everything except there are those of us who could, as you said actually list reasons why, lord of the rings is a piece of crap in our own opinion at least.

Alright,

So I was ::cough:: SICK ::cough:: today, and went to see a movie, instead of some boring AP English work...(Good call, I know..) and went to see Burton's 'Big Fish'...

After seeing it today, I am kinda mad that it didn't get the respect that it deserved last night at the golden globes...

But hell, Oscars are coming up in Feb., so let's see how it does there...
