Anyone else see this in the film festival circuit or rent the DVD? I just got a chance to take a copy home from work at UMVD the other weekend, and it definitely wasn't a disappointment. I knew from the synopsis that the film involved Modigliani's rivalry with comtemporary Pablo Picasso, but it's also a great period film for early 20th century art in Paris. Modigliani himself was quite a character -- a extremely talented but troubled soul, battling with his craft and dying at a young age.

Andy Garcia does a great job in this film as the painter, possibly the best acting that I've seen him do. The other actors are quite good, notably the English/Iranian actor that plays Picasso.
