Okay, this has been driving me nuts. I have to know what what piece of music was used in a scene in this movie. The scene with Brooks' narration (from his letter to the "fellas") when he is released from the prison and moves into the halfway house. What is the music playing? It's perfect for that scene. It's sad and depressing. Anyway, I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me what it's called.

That song is part of the score. I have the soundtrack, but I don't feel like looking for it to find out what the title is. The score is written by Thomas Newman, who, in my oppinion, is one of the best out there.

I agree, that song is perfect for the scene. If you want that and some even better stuff, I recommend buying the soundtrack.

Thomas Newman also did ROAD TO PERDITION which I thought was very beautifully scored. I agree he is one of the best.

Yes, the soundtrack to Road to Perdition kicks. He also did The Green Mile.

It's funny, because in both The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption, the main characters are in prison but innocent...

Yep, it is part of the score for the film. That track in particular is titled "Brooks was here" You can actually download that off of Kazaa with some ease. (not that I am condoning that or anything Big Grin)
That is truly one of the most emotion envoking scores in film history. All around great complimaent to the film. Best O' Luck.

Yeah, it's weird how some movies really suck but their scores are really good. I don't see why nobody noticed it when they put it all together, but maybe that is the way it's supposed to be sometimes.
