I just got done watching Idiocracy (The new Mike Judge film that has literally not been advertised...at all...in any way whatsoever). It was pretty funny- not flawless by any means, but it's definately worth a view for a peak at the potential dumbing down of mankind's future.

A lot of parts had me laughing out loud pretty hard. It's about a very average guy (Luke Wilson) who gets frozen in time, and wakes up in the future where everyone has become unbelievably stupid, making him the smartest man in the world. It has a lot of good gags for a possible future of complete morons. For instance: The highest rated show on TV is called "Ow! My Balls!" that is simply just a guy getting hit in the crotch over and over in various ways. Instead of popcorn people just eat goo out of a bucket, and waterfountains are now replaced with gatorade fountains. There is a hospital in the movie called "St. God's Hospital" with the last four letters crooked and trailing off because they clearly didn't plan it out when they made it. The president of the U.S. is now a pro wrestler/porn star who wears ridiculous clothes and gives moronic hyped up speeches, and rides a motocycle around giving everyone the finger.

It's funny, definately not a waste of money.

i thought this movie was a brilliant satire regarding north american culture. The stuff was really funny, and it makes you think, despite being a "stupid" comedy.

And yet you rented Crank? Razz

Nah, I guess Crank wasnt too bad, just a bit below average.

I thought Idiocracy was ok, but I can see why it went straight to DVD. Started off funny but slowly the jokes just stopped coming as frequently.

I'd like to see it. In a sense, there might be some truth to it. Think about it, within the next thousand years, if we aren't destroyed by a nuclear war or global warming, our bodies will evolve to become dependant on technology. Very interesting concept and I can't wait to buy it next paycheck--if I can afford it!
