Okay, just saw The Aviator. I don't really feel like writing a huge review, but I'll say that I thought it was awesome. Leo Decaprio was amazing in it, along with most of the other actors. John C. Reilly, as always, was fantastic. And Alan Alda was one of the best performances in the movie.

I think this may win best picture. Scorsese will definitely get best director. And leo has a really good shot at best actor.

Sidenote to those who have seen it: Does anyone know the name of the waitress that leo asks "what can I do to pleasure a girl like you?" She was SMOKING. Like, GORGEOUS.

This movie will probably win best picture, but i didn't like it all, I found Leonardo looks like too much of a boy for this role, the character he is supposed to be portraying looks like he should be older physically Leo didn't pull it off...And what's the deal with that ending? There was no ending!(Just my opinion)

I loved the ending!

*POSSIBLE SPOLIERS*

If they had ended it on a happy note, it definitely would have canceled out almost everything that the movie was supposed to be about. It was portraying the real howard hughes. And the real howard hughes was insane. If they had ended it on a high note, I would have been disappointed. And I think it would have tricked people into thinking that he somehow got better, which was certainly not the case.

I totally agree Diego. In all of his movie he looks a little too young to be a part of that. Like Catch Me if you Can. Where it showed he was old and going to jail, you can still tell he is young. He will always just pretty much have a boy face.

I still think DiCaprio did an amazing job, in terms of performance. I didn't really pay much attention to how he looked, just because I was too occupied with how good of a job he did.

There are always problems with movies where the character ages. Leo had to play a very young, 20's Hughes, and also had to play an older Hughes. You have to expect there will always be problems with making him look old. Plus, since he is such a big star, it's hard to think of him as old. He's 30 years old. But even still, people think he is younger. Oh well. They did the best they can. And in my opinion, his performance far out-weighed the problems with looking the age. Nobody would have looked the age, so I'm glad they chose someone who could at least portray him marvelously.

OH, and I found a pic from the movie of that GORGEOUS cigarette-selling girl.

On the imdb boards, a guy said that her reaction to being seduced was one of the most sexiest things he's ever seen in a film. I whole-heartedly concur.

Her name is Josie Maran, by the way.
and here is a pic of her in real life.

Search around on the internet for more pics. She's amazing.

Yeah, she did a very good job with hepburn. The only problem was that at the beginning, she was way too fast. It almost made hepburn seem annoying. as the film progressed, she got better though.

I really want to see this, it looks great. Scorscese never fails to make a good film, even if it isnt an epic. He deserves an f-ing oscar already.

And yes, Josie Maron is quite hot. I remember seeing her in a swimsuit issue in 2001 and commenting on how she was one of the hottest girls I had ever seen, then I saw her in a bunch of commercials. She's hot as hell. Damn.

Awesome film, I didn't mind the length at all because I thought it was all really interesting. Even though Hughes led a strange life he was inspiring. He never gave up and he made his dreams come true (for the most part). Scorsese continues to be the man (he'll never top GoodFellas but every film of his is still great). And DiCaprio is slowly climbing up my favorite actors list after Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can and now this, he keeps getting better (and Titanic wasn't a bad movie either, I just hate how people despise him for that movie). Well that's my opinion, thanks for reading

I want to see it because of this:

quote:
Scorsese designed each year in the film to look just the way a color film from that time period would look. Achieved mainly through digitally enhanced postproduction, Scorsese recreated the look of Cinecolor and two-strip Technicolor. Watch in particular for the scene where Hughes meets Errol Flynn in the club. Hughes is served precisely placed peas on a plate, and they appear blue or turquoise just as they'd have looked in the primitive two-strip Technicolor process. As Hughes ages throughout the film, the color gets more sophisticated and full-bodied.
